UPM holds Anthropology and Archeological Forensic course

SERDANG, March 28 - Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) with the cooperation of the National Institute of Forensic Medicine (IPFN) and Serdang Hospital Forensic Department organized an Anthropology and Archaeological Forensic 2016 Course which took place at Bukit Ekspo, UPM.

Participants of the course comprised Health Ministry officials and staff, Human Anatomy Department of UPM’s Medicine and Health Sciences Faculty, Serdang Hospital Forensic Department, Armed Forces personnel and public universities.

The course content revolved around the process and methods of searching for skeletons buried in the ground and ways to trace possible sites with skeletons for identification purpose.



The course which was held from March 28 to March 30, 2016, was opened by Director of the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, Dr Mohd Shah Mahmood.

He said such a course would benefit the participants greatly.

“It is hoped that such cooperation will continue or intensify as it is important for all participants to fully understand those special principles and techniques as well as the methods used to resolve legal medical cases which are on the rise in the country,” he said.

Also present at the event were UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Prof. Dato' Dr. Mohammad Shatar Sabran and officials from the Argentinian Embassy. – UPM.
