Bangkok, Feb 10: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) Vice Chancellor , Professor Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris has been appointed as President of the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASAIHL) as of 1st January 2016.
ASAIHL secretary general, Dr. Ninnat Olanvoravuth said Professor Datin Paduka Dr. Aini would serve as the ASAIHL President until UPM hosted the ASAIHL General Conference and the election of new officers in December 2016.
“On behalf of the ASAIHL 200 member institutions, we would like to offer our heartfelt congratulations to you and all members of UPM on the occasion of your appointment as the new Vice Chancellor of UPM,” he said in his congratulatory letter.
“We salute the long record of success of UPM as one of the best universities in Malaysia and one of the top universities in ASEAN as well as Asia and Pacific and the world. This is the mark of having successfully passed into a period of solid continuity to serve your nation and its people in a world of increasing professionalism”.
“We are confident that UPM will continue to prosper under your leadership and we wish you continuing success in maintaining the high standards of academic excellence for many years to come,” he said.
Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini was appointed as UPM Vice Chancellor on January 1, 2016. She succeeds Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Fauzi Ramlan whose term as Vice Chancellor ended on 31 December 2015. – UPM.
